UFC 326: Charles Oliveira dominates Max Holloway to claim BMF title
Charles Oliveira scored a massive upset against Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 326 on Sunday (Philippine time) to become the new UFC BMF champion.
Oliveira earned the nod on all the judges’ scorecards, securing a clean sweep of 50-45 scores across the board. "Do Bronx" utilized his size and superior grappling to overwhelm the defending champion, dominating the action with consistent takedowns and relentless ground control.
The victory gives the 36-year-old Brazilian more than just another piece of hardware for his collection. It also grants Oliveira redemption for his TKO loss to Holloway in their first encounter back in August 2015.
During that initial meeting, the submission specialist suffered a freak shoulder injury that forced an early stoppage.
In the co-main event, middleweight standout Caio Borralho returned to the win column with an impressive unanimous decision victory over Reinier de Ridder. Elsewhere on the card, rising star Raul Rosas Jr. solidified his status as a ranked bantamweight after besting veteran gatekeeper Rob Font via unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Filipino-American fighter Ricky Turcios succumbed to a second-round submission loss to Venezuela’s Alberto Montes during the event’s preliminary card.
