Alex Eala expects ‘tough’ match vs Coco Gauff in Indian Wells

Alexandra "Alex" Eala is expecting a tough challenge against American tennis star Coco Gauff when they face off in the Round of 32 of the Indian Wells Open on Monday.

The two tennis stars will meet again on Monday morning (Philippine time), just weeks after clashing in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships, where Gauff won convincingly, 6–0, 6–2.

“I think it's definitely going to be a tough one,” Eala said after her Round of 64 victory over Dayana Yastremska.

“Coco is an amazing player and she’s playing at home, so I’m expecting a big crowd to rally behind her.”

Despite the previous result, Eala said she plans to take the lessons from their last meeting and approach the upcoming match like any other.

“Today [against Yastremska] I had to dig really deep, so I’m expecting that in the next match I’ll have to do even more,” she said. “I’m ready and I’m looking forward to it.”
