Running communities growing outside NCR, says Runrio founder
Running coach and Runrio founder Rio Dela Cruz said running communities in the Philippines are also expanding outside the capital region.
Speaking during a press conference for the 10 Miler Series last Thursday, Dela Cruz said the country’s running culture has continued to grow in recent years.
“Running communities are growing not only in Metro Manila but also in other cities. When you go to places like Iloilo City and Cagayan de Oro, you can really see how strong the running culture has become,” Dela Cruz said.
Dela Cruz also previously said that the local running scene has 'matured' as more racers join running events.
With this, the 10 Miler Series, one of the events organized by Runrio, will expand outside the National Capital Region this year after being held only in Metro Manila in 2025.
The race series, officially called the Rexona 10 Miler Series, will add stops in Davao City, Cagayan de Oro, and Iloilo City, alongside NCR legs in the City of Manila, Makati City, Pasay City, and Quezon City.
Last year, the races were also held in the cities of Muntinlupa and Parañaque, aside from the four cities indicated.
