Willie van Rooyen stops Jeremy Miado via TKO at ONE Fight Night 41

Filipino veteran Jeremy Miado suffered a technical knockout loss to Willie van Rooyen in the opening bout of ONE Fight Night 41 on Saturday in Bangkok, Thailand.

Van Rooyen secured the finish at the 3:35 mark of the third round. The South African “White Lion” floored Miado with a clean left hook before unleashing a barrage of ground-and-pound.

Miado attempted to survive by tying up his opponent, but Van Rooyen continued to land punishing elbows. With Miado absorbing too many unanswered strikes, referee Olivier Coste stepped in to stop the contest.

The victory marked a strong rebound for the 23-year-old van Rooyen, who had fallen short in his promotional debut. His record improved to 8-1 with his first win under ONE Championship.

For the Albay native Miado, the defeat extended a difficult stretch, dropping six of his last seven fights. His professional record fell to 13-10 after suffering a second straight stoppage loss.
