Alex Eala begins Miami Open campaign against Laura Siegemund

Alexandra "Alex" Eala is set to begin her Miami Open campaign against Germany’s Laura Siegemund.

The two will meet in the Round of 64, with Eala receiving a first-round bye, while Siegemund advanced after a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Petra Marcinko.

The 38-year-old Siegemund is currently ranked world No. 53, having reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 27 in 2016.

In doubles, she achieved a career-high ranking of No. 4 in 2024 and currently sits at No. 23 in the said category.

Siegemund has made multiple Grand Slam appearances since 2015, highlighted by quarterfinal finishes at the French Open in 2020 and Wimbledon in 2025.

Eala, meanwhile, is returning to Miami a year after her breakthrough performance which jumpstarted her historic season in 2025.

The official schedule for their match has yet to be announced.
