Alex Eala takes on Magda Linette in Miami Open Round of 32

Alexandra “Alex” Eala will face a familiar foe in Poland’s Magda Linette as she continues her campaign at the Miami Open.

Eala and Linette are set to meet in the tournament’s Round of 32 early Sunday morning, at around 3:50 a.m. (Philippine time), following the match between Amanda Anisimova and Yuliia Starodubtseva.

Linette, currently world No. 50, is a 34-year-old player with three WTA titles. She reached a career-high ranking of No. 19 in 2023.

Prior to this match, she defeated Iga Swiatek, 1–6, 7–5, 6–3, and Varvara Gracheva, 2–6, 6–2, 6–0.

On the other hand, the 20-year-old and world No. 29 Eala defeated Laura Siegemund in the Round of 64, 6–7(6), 6–3, 6–3.

The two players are already familiar with each other, having met thrice in past singles tournaments.

Linette had the upper hand in their first two meetings, winning their Round of 32 clash at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Open, 7–6, 6–1, and their Round of 32 match at the 2025 Nottingham Open, 6–4, 6–3.

However, Eala claimed the most recent victory at the ASB Classic earlier this year, where the Filipina ace won, 6–3, 6–2.

The winner of this match will advance to the Round of 16, where they will face either Karolina Muchova or Katie Boulter.
