How many points did Alex Eala defend and how much did she earn at the Miami Open?

Alexandra “Alex” Eala has concluded her campaign at the Miami Open. Although she did not reach the semifinals this year, she still managed to secure ranking points from her participation.

By advancing to the Round of 16, Eala earned 120 points, lower than the 390 points she collected from her deeper run last year. As a result, her ranking may dip once the tournament concludes, as rankings are determined by a 52-week rolling accumulation of points from events a player has competed in.

Despite this, Eala previously expressed confidence in her ability to make up for any lost points in other tournaments.

“You know, so I'm happy because I've been doing well throughout the whole year. And I've had results even just last week and the week before and throughout the year from last year, last Miami Open to this year. So this isn't a tournament where everything's on the line,” Eala said after her Round of 64 victory.

“If I don't get the points here that I have to defend, I'll get them somewhere else.”

In addition to ranking points, Eala earned $105,720 in prize money from the tournament.

Prior to this, she had already accumulated $381,664 in earnings for the year.

Eala is now set to begin her clay court campaign, with her next appearance scheduled at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz Open in April.
