Alex Eala back at Rafa Nadal Academy ahead of clay-court swing

Alex Eala is stepping up her preparation for the clay-court season as she returned to a familiar ground before swinging back into action next week. 

The Filipino tennis star is back at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain where she is expected to ramp up her training for another busy stretch that starts in the Upper Austria Ladies Linz Open from April 6 to 12.

Eala is coming off an early exit at the Miami Open, where she absorbed a 6-0, 6-2 loss to Karolina Muchova in the Round of 16. As a result, Eala slipped from a career-high No. 29 to No. 45 in the latest Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. 

The Linz Open, a WTA500 event, is expected to feature a star-studded field led by defending champion Ekaterina Alexandrova, Clara Tauson, Emma Raducanu, Emma Navarro, and Jelena Ostapenko. 

Aside from the Austria tournament, Eala is also listed to see action Women's Stuttgart Open in Germany from April 13 to 19 and in the Madrid Open scheduled from April 21 to May 3.
