Alex Eala enters main draw of Stuttgart Open
Alexandra “Alex” Eala has secured a spot in the main draw of the Stuttgart Open (Porsche Tennis Grand Prix) in Germany, set to be held next week.
The tournament’s official social media account confirmed the development on Wednesday.
Eala will replace Qinwen Zheng in the main draw.
“Unfortunately, Qinwen has to withdraw due to injury, but fans can now look forward to seeing Alexandra step in. We wish Qinwen a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on the court in Stuttgart very soon,” the tournament said in its post.
Eala will compete alongside top players such as Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, and Iga Swiatek in the WTA 500 clay-court event.
Earlier, Eala defeated Austria's Julia Grabher, 6-4, 6-3, in the Linz Open Round of 32.
Following Stuttgart, Eala is expected to see action in the Madrid Open, a WTA 1000 tournament.
