Alex Eala beats Julia Grabher in Linz Open Round of 32
Alexandra "Alex" Eala defeated local bet Julia Grabher, 6-4, 6-3, in the Round of 32 of the Linz Open in Austria on Wednesday (Philippine time).
After a tight first set that lasted nearly an hour, world No. 46 Eala found her groove, racing to a 4-1 lead in the second set before Grabher won two straight games to trim the deficit.
Eala then regained control, taking back-to-back games to seal the victory in one hour and 42 minutes in her tournament debut.
“I kept the intensity well throughout the match. She's a very intense player and has really good shots, so I'm really happy with the win,” Eala said in a post-match interview, while also thanking her supporters.
The Filipina ace will face Jelena Ostapenko in the next round.
