PVL: Cignal rebounds from Set 1 scare to rout Farm Fresh in All-Filipino semis opener
Cignal shook off a narrow Set 1 loss to complete a 23-25, 25-14, 25-11, 25-12 win over Farm Fresh, kicking things off in the 2026 PVL Open Conference single-round semifinals on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Erika Santos came through as usual, dropping a team-best 21 points while Vanie Gandler poured in 18 markers together with six digs to power the Super Spikers to a strong start in the semifinals.
Tin Tiamzon also played a key role after posting 11 points and 13 digs.
A pair of opposite kills from Santos sent the second-seeded Cignal to a 15-6 lead in Set 4 before Gel Cayuna fired one of her two service aces, creating a 10-point cushion ahead of the second technical timeout.
Ces Molina answered with back-to-back attacks to spark a Foxies rally, while Alohi Robins-Hardy’s return provided a boost, helping Honey Royse Tubino trim the deficit to single digits, 10–18.
Cignal, however, answered with a 5-1 blast instigated by a combination swipe from Santos and capped by two straight kills from Gandler as the Super Spikers regained a 23-11 advantage.
Santos then delivered the match point after a successfull ball in/ball out challanege by Cignal before Tubino’s attack error put the finishing touch on the victory.
Cignal will look to keep its momentum going, especially as its next assignment is against powerhouse club Creamline on Tuesday in the same venue while Farm Fresh will take on PLDT.
