Philippine Aquatics announced on Friday the passing of coach Richard Luna, prompting an outpouring of grief from the local swimming community.

He was 61 years old.

“Today, May 1, 2026, with deep sorrow, we share that our dearest Technical Director, Coach Richard Luna, has joined our Father God,” the federation said in a post.
