MPL: Team Liquid no longer unbeaten as Team Falcons pulls off massive reverse sweep

Team Falcons pulled off a stunner on a Saturday, handing Team Liquid its first loss in the MPL Philippines Season 17 with a gritty 2–1 reverse sweep at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.

Jungler Michael “Kyle” Sayson stood toe-to-toe with his Team Liquid counterpart Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, delivering a clutch performance with zero deaths in Games 2 and 3 to power the comeback. The win extended Falcons’ streak to seven and improved their record to 8–1.

In the process, Team Falcons also snapped the reigning two-time champions’ unbeaten run, dealing them their first loss since October 24, 2025 when they fell to Aurora Gaming in the Season 16 upper bracket finals.

Before completing the comeback, Team Falcons first had to overcome a sluggish start.

Team Liquid's midlaner Alston "Sanji" Pabico went ballistic on Yve in the opening game, unleashing a timely Real World Manipulation after a pivotal Lord fight at the 13:40 mark that led to two pick-offs. Another ultimate from him sealed it at the base for Team Liquid as they drew first blood in the best-of-three series.

Team Falcons then roared back in the next two games.

Midlaner Salic “Hadji” Imam set the tempo on Yve, steering Team Falcons to an early 3–0 kill lead. But the true momentum swing came in the 14th minute, when Kyle (Guinevere) unleashed a Violet Requiem that knocked up three enemy heroes in a chaotic base clash.

That game-changing clash sparked the final push as Team Falcons capitalized to even the series and force a Game 3.

It was all Team Falcons in the final game with Kyle, this time using Suyou, unloaded a triple kill late in the game that took down Sanji (Yve) and Dave “Teddy” Viaña (Harith) before the rest of the team completed a wipeout and the victory.

Kyle came out of Games 2 and 3 spotless, finishing with a 4/0/11 KDA in the second game and posting eight kills and two assists in the clincher.
