The Philippine men’s 4x400-meter relay team is aiming to qualify for the Asian Games as it prepares for the Asian Relay Championships in China this June.

According to Martin Javier’s “In the Game” on 24 Oras on Thursday, the Asian Relay Championships will serve as a qualifying event for the continental meet.

The men’s 4x400-meter squad, composed of Alfred Talplacido, Alhryan Labita, Frederick Ramirez, and Mico del Prado, recently captured the gold medal at the Singapore Open Track and Field Championships.

“Pinakamahalaga na ginawa namin is before talaga mag-start ‘yung mga competitions namin is bini-build namin ‘yung kung gaano mangyayari ‘yung pressure,” Mico said about their preparations for the Singapore meet.

Coach and 400-meter national record holder Isidro del Prado is also hoping the team can improve its performance.

“Sa awa ng Diyos na kananaman natin ‘yung gold medal,” Coach Isidro said.

“Since part ng training ay exposure… sana po, ma-improve ‘yung mga bata ‘yung time nila.”
