Alex Eala begins Strasbourg Open campaign vs. Oleksandra Oliynykova
Alexandra "Alex" Eala will begin her Strasbourg Open campaign against Ukrainian Oleksandra Oliynykova in France on Monday.
The 25-year-old Oliynykova is currently ranked No. 68 in the Women’s Tennis Association rankings and made her Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Last year, she won three WTA 125 clay-court titles: the Tolentino Open in Italy, the Tucuman Open in Argentina, and the LP Open in Chile.
Before heading to France, Oliynykova bowed to Simona Waltert in the Round of 128 of the Madrid Open.
Eala, meanwhile, is coming off a third-round exit at the Italian Open, where she lost to Elena Rybakina, 6-4, 6-3.
The Strasbourg Open marks Eala’s fifth tournament on clay this season after campaigns in Linz, Stuttgart, Madrid, and Rome.
