2026 Palarong Pambansa officially opens in Agusan del Sur
AGUSAN DEL SUR — The 66th Palarong Pambansa, known locally as the Palaro Tu Agsur, has officially welcomed around 13,000 delegates as the province hosts the prestigious annual sporting event for elementary and secondary student-athletes in the country.
The organizers held the opening ceremonies on Sunday afternoon at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Governor D.O. Plaza Sports Complex in the municipality of Prosperidad.
The opening rites started with an air exhibition from several members of the Philippine Air Force before the student-athletes enter the stadium for the traditional parade of colors.
Athletes of the Paragames were the first to arrive followed by those from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), National Capital Region (NCR), and Negros Island Region (NIR).

Regions I to XIII also joined the parade with their thousands of representatives across the 24 regular sports, three demo sports, and four exhibition sports.
Aside from the Philippines’ 18 regions, the National Academy of Sports and Philippine Overseas Schools have also sent delegates to the games.
Pencak silat athlete Precious Hope Sumile Maghuyis led the Oath of Sportsmanship while Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo led the Oath of Officiating Officials.
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. also delivered a video greetinga as he addressed the athletes, teachers, and everyone involved in the hosting.
