Alexandra “Alex” Eala suffered an early exit from the 2026 French Open after falling to Iva Jovic, 6-4, 6-2, in the first round on Tuesday.
Jovic raced to a 5-1 lead in the opening set before Eala responded by winning three straight games to cut the deficit. However, Jovic regained control and closed out the set.
In the second set, Eala took the opening game before Jovic claimed the next two. Eala answered with another game, but Jovic pulled away by winning the next four games.
Despite her singles exit, Eala is still set to compete in the doubles tournament alongside Victoria Mboko in the clay-court Grand Slam.
