Palarong Pambansa to be hosted by Quezon City in 2027
AGUSAN DEL SUR — The Palarong Pambansa is returning to the National Capital Region (NCR) after the organizers bared that Quezon City has been chosen as the next host of the annual grassroots sporting event in 2027.
Palarong Pambansa secretary general Malcolm Garma revealed this development during a press conference with local and national media on Thursday at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Governor D.O. Sports Complex in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
Garma said the formal turnover will take place during the closing ceremony.
This will mark the return of Palarong Pambansa to Metro Manila since 2023, when Marikina hosted the games.
"We already officially communicated to the city government of Quezon City to be the next host of Palarong Pambansa. So this will be Palarong Pambansa 2027," Garma said.
"And in fact, I think the delegation from the Quezon City government will be coming over for the turnover during the closing ceremony."
In the past, Quezon City has hosted the national games only once in 1966, although it was during the time when Palarong Pambansa was still under the Bureau of Public Schools-Interscholastic Athletics Association Games (BPISAA) billing, making the 2027 edition the first time the Palarong Pambansa will head to the City of Stars.
