Palarong Pambansa sprint queen Franceine Rosario completes back-to-back pole vault gold

National Capital Region (NCR) bet Franceine Rosario defended her title — and broke her own record — to rule the 2026 Palarong Pambansa secondary girls pole vault event on Thursday.

Rosario, a student-athlete of the University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP, cleared 3.15 meters in two attempts to eclipse the tournament record of 2.75 meters she also set in last year's Palarong Pambansa edition in Ilocos Norte.

She also surpassed her previous personal best of 3.10 meters, which she achieved last March in an international competition in Taiwan.

With this win, the 17-year-old track star hiked her individual medal count to three after also dominating the 100m and 200m dash events.

Bicolana teammates Lyka Ramilo and Aira Garlan, meanwhile, seized the silver and bronze medals after clearing 3.05 meters and 2.95 meters, respectively.
