15-year-old Baguio local sets new speedcubing record
A new speedcubing record was set in Tagaytay City as Crimson Arradaza of Baguio City broke the 3x3x3 one-handed national record during the Philippine National Speedcubing Open last week.
The 15-year-old incoming ninth grader clocked 5.33 seconds to achieve the feat, surpassing the previous record of 5.66 seconds set by Switzerland’s Dhruva Sai Meruva in 2024.
“I’m happy Filipinos have become competitive in this mind sport, which doesn’t require height but rather tactics, speed, and skill,” said Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino.
“We’re satisfied with our efforts to promote the sport because many Filipinos are now taking up the cube.”
A total of 72 cubers participated in the speed cubing event.
