Alexandra “Alex” Eala will play for another WTA 125 title at the Birmingham Open on Sunday when she takes on Czech player Nikola Bartunkova in the final.

It will be Eala’s second WTA 125 final after capturing the Guadalajara Open WTA 125 crown in September last year.

What is a WTA 125 tournament?

According to the WTA, the WTA 125 series—which includes tournaments such as the Guadalajara Open 125, Birmingham Open, and the Philippine Women’s Open—"offers both established WTA players and talented newcomers the ability to build their careers and progress up to the highest levels of the WTA Tour."

The circuit also provides opportunities for players returning from injury or maternity leave to compete regularly and rebuild their rankings.

A WTA 125 tournament awards 125 ranking points to the champion.

At the Birmingham Open, the winner will receive 125 ranking points and $33,650 in prize money.

By reaching the final, Eala has already secured 81 ranking points and $19,700 in prize money.
