Alex Eala falls to Iva Jovic, exits HSBC Championships

Alexandra “Alex” Eala bowed out of the HSBC Championships after a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Iva Jovic in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.

Jovic took control early and dispatched Eala in straight sets in a match that lasted just one hour and 16 minutes.

Despite the defeat, Eala continues her grass-court campaign and is set to compete in the Berlin Tennis Open, where she is listed in the qualifying draw.

Just last Sunday, Eala ruled the WTA 125 Birmingham Open, then proceeded to the WTA 500 tournament where she defeated Zhang Shuai, 6-3, 6-2.
