Alex Eala to face Linda Noskova in Berlin Tennis Open semifinals
Alexandra “Alex” Eala will face Czech standout Linda Noskova once again, this time in the semifinals of the Berlin Tennis Open.
Eala secured her spot in the final four after stunning world No. 8 Elina Svitolina, 6-3, 6-4, in the quarterfinals on early Saturday.
Noskova, meanwhile, advanced to the semifinals with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory over Paola Badosa.
The two previously met at the Indian Wells Open, where Noskova handed Eala a 6-2, 6-0 defeat.
However, Eala got the better of Noskova in their junior days, defeating the Czech player 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the 2020 French Open girls' tournament.
“Well, like you said, she's a big hitter. She's young, but she already has a lot of experience and is very powerful,” Eala said of the 21-year-old Czech.
“My last match with her proved to be very difficult for me. So coming into the semifinals, I hope to prepare, make some improvements, and show what I've got.”
The winner of the match will advance to the final and face either Aryna Sabalenka or Jessica Pegula, who will square off in the other semifinal.
