Alex Eala shares touching fan letter that stayed with her
Alexandra “Alex” Eala has been inspiring countless fans with her rise in global tennis.
From being a girl with "chubby cheeks, ruffled socks, and light-up shoes" who dared to dream, Eala has been turning those dreams into reality one match at a time.
With her rise has also come the opportunity to inspire young athletes who once dreamed just like she did.
In a one-on-one interview with Vicky Morales on 24 Oras, Eala said she is grateful to have become one of the country's brightest sources of pride.
“It makes me feel great to feel all the love and see how I'm being received with gratitude and pride,” Eala said.
“I want to give back as much as I can and the only way I know how to do that is to keep working hard.”
Among the many compliments she has received, Eala shared the best feedback she got from one of her fans.
“I like when people talk about my character. One thing that stood out to me is one time I read a letter from a fan, and she said, this was a year ago, and she said that she was reminded that it's okay to feel things deeply,” Eala said.
“And that resonated with me so much, because I am someone who feels very deeply, and it's nice that people notice that.”
Articulate and eloquent, Eala said she simply speaks from the heart.
“I think it stems from just being genuine. And I'm proud to say that I think I am able to articulate my emotions pretty well,” she said.
“And through that, when I share my feelings, and I wear my heart on my sleeve, I'm able to share those emotions, or allow people to share in those emotions with me and I experience such great things, and I feel such great emotions. So as much as I can, I'd love to share that with others.”
Eala recently made history for Philippine tennis after reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon.
