RP Blu Girls pull off upset vs world No. 3 Puerto Rico in Women's Softball World Cup

The Philippine women’s softball team, the RP Blu Girls, pulled off an upset over world No. 3 Puerto Rico, 5-4, in the Women’s Softball World Cup on Friday (Philippine time) in Puerto Rico.

The Philippines rallied from a 4-1 deficit before drawing level, with Alyssa Daniell and Nicole Hammoude leading the comeback to secure the victory.

Hours later, however, the Filipinas fell to Great Britain, 5-0.

The Philippines now holds a 1-3 record in the Lima Group after opening its campaign with losses to Venezuela, 8-5, and Japan, 4-0.

The Blu Girls will face Peru on Friday.

Only the top two teams in the group will advance to the group final, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will compete in the third-place playoff.
