Alex Eala set for Leylah Fernandez rematch in DC Open Round of 16

Alexandra “Alex” Eala is set for a rematch against Canada’s Leylah Fernandez, this time in the Round of 16 of the DC Open.
Eala is coming off a come-from-behind victory over former world No. 4 and 2024 Paris Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Fernandez, meanwhile, defeated Magda Linette in the first round of the WTA 500 event, 6-1, 6-4.

The two players last met at the Stuttgart Open in April, where Fernandez won, 6-1, 6-4.
World No. 34 Fernandez, whose mother is Filipino-Canadian, holds five WTA titles and reached a career-high ranking of No. 13 in August 2022.
She reached the US Open final in 2021 and the French Open quarterfinals in 2022.
