The Philippines made history on Monday by securing its first-ever victory in the World Lacrosse Women’s Championship, defeating the Czech Republic, 11-5, in Tokyo, Japan.
The breakthrough win came after the Filipinas opened their campaign with a 12-6 loss to Israel, followed by a narrow 9-7 defeat to host Japan in the group stage.
With the victory, the Philippines finished third in its group with a 1-2 record and advanced to the classification round, where it will face Wales, the third-place finisher in Group B. The Philippines and Wales are set to meet on Thursday.
