Alex Eala at the Canadian Open: Ranking points and prize money earned
Alexandra “Alex” Eala bowed out of the Canadian Open after losing to Belinda Bencic, 6-4, 6-0, in the Round of 16 of the WTA 1000 event on Sunday (Monday, Philippine time).
The loss also snapped Eala’s seven-match winning streak, which began with her title run at the DC Open.
While Eala’s campaign in Toronto has come to an end, the Filipina ace will leave the tournament with additional ranking points and prize money.
By reaching the fourth round, Eala earned 120 ranking points. Her world ranking, however, is not expected to change for now, with the live rankings still projecting her to retain the No. 20 spot
Eala is also set to pocket $81,800 in prize money from her Canadian Open run. Prior to the Toronto tournament, Eala had already earned $1,537,330 in prize money this year alone.
Eala is expected to return to action at the Cincinnati Open next week.
