Alex Eala earns 17th seed in Cincinnati Open
Alex Eala will enter the Cincinnati Open as the 17th seed, giving the Filipina star another chance to go deep in a WTA1000 tournament ahead of the US Open.
The WTA on Tuesday released the players' list with world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka earning the top seed followed by Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, and Mirra Andreeva.
This marks the third time in her last four tournaments that Eala has earned a seeding, dating back to Wimbledon, where she became the first Filipino to be seeded at a Grand Slam and advanced to the fourth round.
She was not seeded in Mubadala DC open but ended up winning it all after beating top-seeded Jessica Pegula in the finals.
Eala proceeded to the Canadian Open, where she was the 25th-seeded player that allowed her to earn a first-round bye.
The draws for the Cincinnati Open have yet to be released but Eala is once again expected to clinch a first-round bye.
