Alas Pilipinas Men fall short against Indonesia in classification round
The Alas Pilipinas Men fell short against Indonesia, 25-23, 24-26, 25-22, 25-21, in the classification match of the 2026 Asian Games men’s volleyball tournament on Thursday in Japan.
After falling short in the opening set, the Philippines bounced back in the second, erasing Indonesia’s 23-21 lead in the final moments of the frame.
Bryan Bagunas and Marck Espejo scored back-to-back points to tie the set before Indonesia reached set point.
However, Josh Magalaman and a service ace from Espejo handed the set to the Philippines.
From there, the Philippines kept pace with Indonesia in the next two sets, but the Indonesians eventually closed out the match.
Leo Ordiales had 13 points, while Espejo and Buddin added 11 points each for the Philippines.
Arnez Boy led Indonesia with 20 points, while Nibras Fauzan contributed 17.
The Philippines will face Uzbekistan in the classification round for 13th to 16th place.
