Asian Games 2026: Kyhlem Progella and Sofiah Pagara, beach volleyball

The Philippines copped another bronze medal in the 2026 Asian Games as the duo of Khylem Progella and Sofiah Pagara defeated China’s Cao Shuting and Dong Jie, 13-21, 23-21, 15-13, on Friday in Japan.

The Alas Pilipinas Women completed the come-from-behind victory to deliver the Philippines’ 24th overall medal, its 15th bronze, and volleyball’s only medal in the multisport event.

Progella and Pagara swept the group stage, defeating pairs from the Maldives, Mongolia, and Hong Kong to advance to the Round of 16.

The duo also swept their respective opponents from Hong Kong in the Round of 16 and Japan in the quarterfinals before falling to Thailand’s Taravadee Naraphornrapat and Worapeerachayakorn Kongphopsarutawadee in the semifinals.

The Philippines now has 25 medals — four golds, six silvers, and 15 bronzes — in the Asiad.
