PVL: Savi Davison's triple-double carries PLDT to breakthrough win

PLDT ended its losing woes after turning back Capital1 to complete a 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 win in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

Savi Davison carried the scoring load, erupting for a triple-double of 28 points anchored on 23 attacks, four blocks, and one ace together with 10 digs and 18 receptions as the High Speed Hitters ended a two-game slide to improve to 1-2.

Kim Kianna Dy provided the help with 11 points while Alleiah Malaluan and Keisha Bedonia chipped in nine and eight markers each to help PLDT recover from first two losses against Nxled and Akari.

But PLDT had to fend off a Set 4 comeback from the Solar Spikers before capturing its maiden win of the season.

Up 20-16, PLDT committed back-to-back errors that allowed Capital1 to stage a mini rally and pull within two. But the High Speed Hitters returned the favor, unleashing three straight points started by a backrow kill from Davison to create a 23-18 cushion.

Capital1, coming of a two-game winning streak against Akari and ZUS Coffee, once again mounted a fightback with Bella Belen and Erika Santos fueling a 3-0 run that pulled the Solar Spikers to within two points again, 23-21.

But Dy soared from the opposite and unloaded a cross-court kill before she connived with Dell Palomata to reject an attack from Belen from the left wing.

Belen also shone with a triple-double showing of her own with 23 points, 10 digs, and 19 receptions while Vanie Gandler and Santos chipped in 16 and 15 markers each.
