PVL: Nxled makes quick work of skidding Capital1 to gain solo top spot
Nxled dealt another huge blow to Capital1, eking out a dominant 25-13, 25-20, 25-18 win to remain spotless in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.
The league-leading Chameleons were on top all throughout the game with Brooke Van Sickle showing the way with 13 points while Jonah Sabete-Escamilla shone on both ends with seven markers, five digs, and 10 receptions as they improved to 5-0.
MJ Phillips imposed her will at the middle by hammering nine points as Jackie Acuña chipped in seven in just two sets to help Nxled send the Solar Spikers to their third straight loss for a 2-4 win-loss card.
Despite his team's impressive 5-0 start to the campaign, Italian head coach Ettore Guidetti is already looking ahead to the challenges that lie ahead.
"It (the game) is already done so we think about the next one. When you're running, you're looking to go with your rhythm," Guidetti said.
"I really hope that the next game won't stop us. It's really difficult to plan because every single opponent is high-level, especially Akari."
Nxled, which opened its campaign with wins over PLDT, Farm Fresh, Galeries Tower, and Choco Mucho, came out firing from the get-go and dominated Capital1 with six blocks in the opening set to secure a 13-point win.
The Solar Spikers tried to change the narrative by keeping things close early in Sets 2 and 3, but Nxled always found another gear in the closing stretches of both frames to complete the straight-set victory.
Nxled was so dominant that it held Capital1's usual scorers to unusually low outputs with Bella Belen finishing with five points, Vanie Gandler tallying seven markers, and Erika Santos posting a team-high 12 points.
