UST Tigresses, NU Bulldogs reign in beach volleyball
The UST Lady Tigresses defeated the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 21-15 21-19, to win its second straight beach volleyball title at Sands SM By The Bay on Saturday.
It is UST's fifth women's beach volleyball title, its third in the last four seasons, with Cherry Rondina winning her third MVP award. You can call it a perfect season for UST, as they went unbeaten in nine contests.
In the men's division, National University recovered from a 0-1 series hole to defeat UST, 21-15 14-21 15-13 to reclaim the men's crown.
With its fourth title, NU now becomes the winningest team in the lead, passing UST and FEU.
NU went undefeated in the elminations, 7-0, before facing UST in the finals.
UST dealt NU its first loss with a close 22-20 26-24 result in the championship opener. NU recovered by outlasting UST, 21-19 9-21 15-10 to tie the series at 1-1. — LA, GMA News
