Maraguinot leads Ateneo to victory vs UE

The Ateneo Lady Eagles bucked the strong start of the UE Lady Warriors, recovering to earn a 21-25 25-18 25-21 25-14 victory for their second straight victory in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball competition.

Jho Maraguinot paced Ateneo with 20 points, cashing in on 17 kills. Maddie Madayag tallied 12 points off five blocks, while Kat Tolentino and Bea De Leon chipped in 10 points each.

The Lady Eagles executed better on the offensive end, 48-36. They also overwhelmed the Lady Warriors in service aces, 11-6, and in blocks, 12-3.

Shaya Adorador led UE with 14 points off 12 kills, while Mary Ann Mendrez added 12 off 10 kills and two blocks.

With the win, Ateneo improved to 2-2, while UE remained winless in four outings. — DVM, GMA News
