Ateneo routs Adamson for third straight win

The Ateneo Lady Eagles registered their third straight victory on Wednesday, outlasting the Adamson Lady Falcons, 25-18 14-25 25-18 15-25 15-10, at the FilOil Arena in San Juan.

Jho Maraguinot led Ateneo with 15 points off 13 kills, while Maddie Madayag and Julianne Samonte added 14 points apiece.

Kat Tolentino rounded up the scorers in double figures with 10.

The Lady Falcons actually edged the Lady Eagles in attack points, 50-45, but Ateneo made up for it by registering 15 big blocks to Adamson’s five.

Coach Tai Bundit’s squad was able to weather the 19-point outburst of Eli Soyud, who had help from team captain Jessica Galanza who added 10. The duo accounted for 23 of Adamson’s 50 attack points.

With the win, Ateneo improved to 3-2 for solo third place, after losing its first two assignments. Adamson, meanwhile, slid to sixth at 2-3. — BAP, GMA News
