Carlos, Molde carry UP to victory over UST

The UP Lady Maroons endured a hard-fought battle, outlasting the UST Lady Tigresses 31-33 25-23 25-16 25-12 on Wednesday at the FilOil Arena in San Juan.

Diana Carlos exploded for 32 big points for UP, connecting on 27 attack points and two aces. Isa Molde, meanwhile, chipped in 23 off 24 kills.

UP barely edged UST in attack points, 55-50. The key difference was in the blocking department, as the Diliman-based squad shadowed the net for 14 denials to UST’s six.

Sisi Rondina again led UST with 23 attack points, while Christine Francisco added 12. Dimdim Pacres, meanwhile, tallied 10.

With the win, UP improved to 2-4 to tie UST. NU is still atop the standings at 5-1, while FEU, La Salle, and Ateneo are tied at 4-2. Adamson is in the middle of the back at 3-3. — BAP, GMA News
