UAAP: UE shocks Adamson in five-set affair

The UE Lady Warriors finally got their first win of the season after outlasting the Adamson Lady Falcons, 25-22, 22-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-13 at the FilOil Arena in San Juan.

Adamson actually outclassed UE in attack points, 59-36, as Mylene Part and Joy Dacoron combined for 30 kills for a combined 33-point outing. However, the Lady Falcons committed 52 errors, enough to keep UE in the game to earn the victory.

Mary Ann Mendrez led UE with 12 points while Shaya Adorador added 11, including key hits in the deciding set.

Also helping UE was its steady floor defense, with libero Kathleen Arado taking Player of the Game honors thanks to 24 digs and 32 successful receptions.

With the win, UE improved to 1-6 while Adamson slid to 3-4 after key victories against top teams FEU and La Salle. — BM, GMA News
