Ateneo bounces back to crush FEU

The Ateneo Lady Eagles leaned on the steady performance of Who Maraguinot and Kat Tolentino to defeat the FEU Lady Tamaraws in straight sets, 25-19 25-21 25-17, on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan City.

Maraguinot and Tolentino scored 15 and 11 points, respectively, accounting for 25 of Ateneo’s 38 attack points.

Jules Samonte and Bea De Leon, meanwhile, combined for additional 15 markers.

FEU’s hitters struggled to match Atenean counterparts, with only Toni Rose Basas scoring in double figures with 10. Celine Domingo added seven, but no other Lady Tamaraw tallied more than five. The whole team combined for just 27 attack points.

With the win, Ateneo improved to 5-3 to tie FEU. The two teams are behind league-leading NU (6-1), while defending champions La Salle sit at 5-2. — BAP, GMA News
