Galanza shines as Adamson topples NU
The Adamson Lady Falcons earned a crucial victory on Wednesday, overcoming the NU Lady Bulldogs, 25-19 25-15 18-25 25-13, to stay in the hunt for a semifinals berth in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball competition.
Adamson had three players in double figures, with Jessica Galanza pacing her team with 16 points off 15 kills and a block. Majoy Dacoron and Mylene Paat added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
The San Marcelino-based squad barely bested their counterparts in kills (43-38) and in blocks (6-5), but the Lady Bulldogs committed 39 big errors.
Jaja Santiago was also the only NU player in double figures with 21 off 17 kills, two blocks, and two aces, as Rosa Sato was limited to nine markers off six kills, two blocks, and an ace.
With the win, Adamson improved to 5-5 with four more matches to play. The Lady Falcons face an uphill battle, though, as they are still slated to play Ateneo, FEU, La Salle, and UST.
NU, on the other hand, slid to tie FEU for third place behind La Salle (8-2) and Ateneo (7-3). Left for them to play are UST, UP, UE, and FEU. — BAP, GMA News
