Ateneo earns solo second with win over UE
Kat Tolentino scored 22 points off 16 kills and five blocks to lift the Ateneo Lady Eagles to a 25-14 18-25 25-13 25-18 victory over the UE Lady Warriors on Wednesday.
With the win, Ateneo secured solo second place with a 7-3 win-loss card, while La Salle remained atop the standings at 8-2.
Tied at 6-4 are NU and FEU, while Adamson is at 5-5 with teams having four more games to play in the second round of eliminations.
It was a team effort for the Lady Eagles, with Jho Maraguinot hitting 16 points, Maddie Madayag adding 13, and Jules Samonte rounding up the players in double figures with 11. Bea De Leon and Deanna Wong, meanwhile, combined for nine more.
Ateneo leaned on their persistent attack, scoring off 54 kills while UE was limited to 38. The Lady Eagles also tallied 13 points off blocks while the Lady Warriors only had three. UE, however, tallied nine blocks to Ateneo’s four.
Shaya Adorador paced UE with 21 points off 19 kills, while Mary Ann Mendres added 10. No other player scored in double figures, with Judith Abil coming closest with seven. — BAP, GMA News
