Lady Bulldogs fall anew, this time to UST
After taking the top spot in the standings at one point in the first round of the eliminations, the NU Lady Bulldogs have now spiraled down to fifth place, bowing to the UST Lady Tigresses, 22-25 25-23 25-21 25-9, in the UAAP Women's Volleyball tournament on Sunday.
Sisi Rondina virtually matched the Jaja Santiago’s output, going off for 25 points off 22 kills. She got help from Milena Alessandrini, who added 19 markers off 11 kills, five blocks, and three aces. Caitlin Viray and Alina Bicar also chipped in eight and seven points, respectively.
NU bested UST in kills, 44-42, but trailed in blocks, 12-5, and in aces, 11-6.
Jaja Santiago carried the Lady Bulldogs with 27 big points off 23 attack points, two blocks, and two aces, while Adrey Paran added 11. Risa Sato, meanhile, scored seven.
With three matches left to play, NU slid to fifth right behind La Salle (9-2), Ateneo (8-3), FEU (7-4), and Adamson (5-6).
UST now sits in sixth place just behind NU at 4-7. —KG, GMA News
