Ateneo Lady Eagles recover late to beat Adamson Lady Falcons

The Ateneo Lady Eagles climbed out of a 2-1 hole to defeat the Adamson Lady Falcons in five sets, 24-26 25-19 21-25 26-24 15-12, to take solo second place in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament on Sunday.

It was a balanced attack for Ateneo, which had four players score in double figures. Jho Maraguinot paced her squad with 23 points off 20 kills, while Kat Tolentino added 17. Jules Samonte and Bea De Leon also chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Jessica Galanza paced the Lady Falcons with 23 points. The Adamson team captain had a lot of help, with Mylene Paat hitting 17 and Eli Soyud and Majoy Dacoron combining for 21.

Ateneo now sits in solo second at 8-3 behind La Salle (9-2), while Adamson slid to fourth at 5-6 just behind FEU (7-4). —KG, GMA News
