Ateneo survives UST in five sets

The Ateneo Lady Eagles climbed out of a 2-1 hold to defeat the UST Lady Tigresses in five sets, 25-22 20-25 16-25 25-17 15-9, at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Kat Tolentino and Jho Maraguinot did more of the damage for Ateneo, scoring 21 and 19 points, respecively, while hitting 17 attack points each.

Maddie Madayag also added 11 markers after scoring off four blocks and three aces. Jules Samonte and Bea De Leon also added seven points apiece.

Sisi Rondina again had a stellar outing, scoring 21 points off all kills. Milena Alessandrini and Christine Francisco also chipped in 10 points apiece, while Carla Sandoval tallied nine.

With the win, Ateneo improved to 9-3 to take the top spot, UST, meanwhile, slid to tie UP at 4-8, just above cellar dweller UE (2-9). — BAP, GMA News
