By the numbers: How DLSU beat FEU in Season 71
Nine years ago, the DLSU Lady Spikers unseated the defending champions FEU Lady Tamaraws in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Competition. Here’s how they did it:
56 - The number of points Jacq Alarca scored in the three-game series
3 - The number of times FEU led La Salle in attack points in the series. In Game 1, FEU led 66-52 in kills, 50-43 in Game 2, and 57-51 in Game 3.
88 - The number of errors committed by FEU in the series. DLSU, on the other hand, only tallied 71
45- The number of blocks DLSU scored off in three games. FEU only had 19.
5,166 - The average number of fans in attendance in the series. Five thousand fans flocked to the FilOil Arena in Game 1 for the opener, with the crowd growing to 6,500 in Game 3.
11 - The number of points Rachel Anne Daquis scored in Game 3. FEU’s star player scored 18 and 22 points in Games 1 and 2, respectively.
126 -Supporting Jacq Alarca were Steph Mercado, Illa Santos, and Cha Cruz. The trio accounted for 44 of DLSU’s 107 points in Game 1, 36 of La Salle’s 82 points in Game 2, and 46 of the team’s 95 points in their Game 3 victory.
