NU shuts down Ateneo's Espejo to take Game 1 of finals
The NU men’s volleyball team shut down Ateneo’s super scorer Marck Espejo to take a 25-20 25-19 25-23 victory in Game 1 of their best-of-three finals series on Saturday.
After scoring a record 55 points in Game 1 of their Final Four match against FEU, before following it up with a 37-point performance in Game 2, Espejo was limited to just 16 points in Ateneo’s straight sets loss. Only Ron Medalla scored in double figures for the Blue Eagles with 11 points.
The Bulldogs, on the other hand, had three players in double figures, lef by Bryan Bagunas who scored 19 points with 16 kills and an ace.
James Natividad chipped in 17 with 14 kills and three blocks, while Madz Gampong tallied 11.
The Bulldogs outscored Ateneo 47-26 in attack points, while posting 13 block points to the Eagles’ seven. —ALG, GMA News
