Kalei Mau confirms national team participation for Thailand tilt

Kalei Mau has answered the call of duty and confirmed her participation when the national women's volleyball team competes in the AVC Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship.

The Filipina-Hawaiian spiker was part of the pool that the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) released for the tournament slated from October 1 to 7 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

Mau is fresh from her stint in Puerto Rico where she suited up for club Changos de Naranjito. She'll first make a stop in Oahu in Hawaii to join her family and friends.

From there, she'll be flying directly to Thailand to join the nationals.

"I'll be home in Oahu on Sunday and I can't wait to see my Ohana," she said in a series of Instagram stories Friday.

"I'm going to be home for the month and then I'm going to be training and I am going to Thailand to join the national team of the Philippines to play in the AVC."

Mau was supposed to play for the country during the 2019 SEA Games but was eventually ruled out due to her affiliation to USA volleyball.

It was only in July this year that the 6-foot-2 open spiker got the nod of the FIVB to don the country's colors on the international stage.

Her participation in the upcoming Thailand tournament is tipped to be a big boost for the national squad set to be bannered by mainstays Majoy Baron, Mylene Paat, Dawn Macandili, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, and Aby Maraño.
