Another sweep loss for PH as Rebisco falls to Supreme Chonburi in Asian Club Volleyball Championship
Supreme Chonburi made quick work of Team Rebisco, 25-11, 25-16, 25-16, as the Philippines remained winless in the 2021 Asian Club Volleyball Championship Saturday in Thailand.
Rebisco recorded its second consecutive loss after dropping its opening game on Friday against Altay VC of Kazakhstan.
After a slow start in the opening set, Rebisco gained some momentum in the second frame after opposite hitter Kianna Dy led a 4-0 run and kept the team within a point, 14-15.
But Supreme Chonburi, led by seasoned middle blocker Pleumjit Thinkaow, spread their lead to 22-14 before Rebisco scored back-to-back attacks to save two set points, 16-24. The Filipinas, however, could not tie the game at one set apiece.
Rebisco also welcomed four of its players in team captain Aby Maraño, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Eya Laure, and Ivy Lacsina who came back after being placed under quarantine.
Rebisco will wrap up the preliminary round on Sunday when it faces Saipa Tehran of Iran at 7 p.m.
