MRT-Negros finishes fifth in PNVF Champions League with win over Sabong Spikers

MRT-Negros rallied late in the game to survive the Sabong International Spikers, 20-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-21, 15-5, to finish fifth in the maiden PNVF Champions League on Friday in Lipa City, Batangas.

Five MRT-Negros players were in double digit mark with team captain Christian Marcelino leading the charge with 16 points. Jian Salarzon and Leo Ordiales each poured in 15 points.

Jhun Kahulugan and Gadpray Aresgado, meanwhile, carved out 11 and 10 markers respectively as MRT-Negros repeated their opening day win over the Sabong Spikers.

During the two teams' first meeting in the tournament opener, MRT-Negros needed five sets as well to claim a 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 21-25, 15-12 victory.
