Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho complete PVL semis cast

Petro Gazz and Choco Mucho joined Creamline and Cignal as the two clubs completed the semifinal cast of the 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) after dispatching separate foes on Tuesday.

Holding a twice-to-beat advantage, the Angels leaned on veterans Grethcel Soltones and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas in surviving powerhouse F2 Logistics in four sets, 25-14, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19.

Soltones dropped a game-high 22 points built on 20 attacks and two service aces while lefty spiker Maizo-Pontillas chipped in 18 markers while also being effective on the defensive end with her 23 digs.

Petro Gazz will now move on to the semifinals where it will face the HD Spikers, who swept its pool stage games for an unblemished 4-0 record en route to blanking Balipure in the quarters.

Earlier, Choco Mucho has also punched its semis ticket after pulling a 25-21, 23-25, 29-31, 25-15, 15-11 triumph of PLDT in their quarterfinal match.

Ace spiker Kat Tolentino was in her element, churning out 19 huge points anchored all on attacks while Isa Molde carved out 18 markers. The win earned Flying Titans the right to face Creamline in the next round.

The Cool Smashers yesterday dethroned Chery Tiggo, exacting revenge after last year's bridesmaid finish in the 2021 Open Conference.
